The Gomel branch of the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry cooperates actively with all 14 regions of the Volga Federal District of Russia in order to expand interregional contacts, promote products and services of business entities of the Gomel region to the Russian market. Twelve Cooperation Agreements were signed with the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Volga region and 5 business associations. During this year the Gomel branch held 17 joint events to develop economic cooperation with the regions of the Volga Federal District, the logical continuation of which was the visit of the business circles of the Republic of Belarus to Kazan, Yoshkar-Ola, Cheboksary from the 1st to the 4th of November, 2023.
The organizer of the visit was the Gomel branch of the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry together with the Chambers of Commerce and Industry of the Republic of Tatarstan, the Republic of Mari El, the Chuvash Republic with the support of the Branch of the Embassy of the Republic of Belarus in the Russian Federation in Kazan.
The business mission included heads of Belarusian industrial enterprises, the Administration of the FEZ “Gomel-Raton”, medical, sanatorium-resort, and tourism organizations. The delegation was headed by Marina Filonova, the General Director of the Gomel branch of the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
During the visit extended meetings and negotiations took place with Yu.V. Zaitsev, the Chairman of the Government of the Republic of Mari El, A.V. Smirnov, the Chairman of the State Assembly of the Republic of Mari El, D.N. Kurochkin, the Vice-President of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Russian Federation, heads of the Ministries of Industry, Economic Development and Trade of the Republic of Tatarstan, the Republic of Mari El, the Chuvash Republic, Investment Development and Export Development Agencies, the Entrepreneurship Support Fund and the Industrial Development Fund of the Republic of Mari El, Chambers of Commerce and Industry of the republics and other business circles.
Representing the economic and tourism potential of the Gomel region, the services of the Gomel branch of the BelCCI during the visit, M.V. Filonova proposed to intensify the mutual exchange of information and commercial offers in order to mutually promote products on the Russian and Belarusian markets and invited the business circles of Tatarstan, Mari El and Chuvashia to participate in the International business event «Business Days in Gomel».
Presentations of enterprises and organizations-members of the delegation, B2B negotiations with business circles took place within the meetings. The topics of import substitution and import advance, issues of industry interaction in the areas of production cooperation, investment cooperation, health improvement and healthcare were discussed. For example, following the results of the negotiations, the Association of Machine Tools of the Republic of Tatarstan «TatPromStan» was interested in cooperation with OJSC «StankoGomel».
To expand the areas of interaction, the Head of the Republic of Mari El, the Chairman of the Government of the Republic Yu.V. Zaitsev proposed organizing a visit of the Mari El business delegation to the Gomel region under the auspices of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry. It is expected that the visit will take place within «Business Days in Gomel». The Mari El delegation is interested in studying work experience and opportunities for cooperation with enterprises of seed and livestock industry in the Gomel region.
